Privacy Policy — USM PRO

USM PRO ("the App") is developed and published by Educons Enterprise ("we", "us", "our"). The App is a school administration tool for managing student records, attendance, report cards, and ID cards. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, where it lives, and who it is shared with.

In short: USM PRO works fully offline. All data you enter — student records, attendance, grades, ID cards, school branding — is stored only in a local database and private storage folder on the device it was entered on. We do not operate a server, and we do not receive, view, or have access to any of it. The only way data ever leaves a device is when school staff deliberately use the Device Sync feature to transfer it directly to another authorized device — nothing syncs automatically or in the background.

2. Information the App Handles

None of the information below is transmitted to Educons Enterprise or any third-party server. It is stored locally on the device, in a local database and an app-private image folder. USM PRO does not use analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or in-app purchase services of any kind.

2.1 Permissions the App Requests

3. How We Use Information

Because data is processed on-device, "use" here means what the App itself does with it locally:

Generating locally stored report cards, ID cards, and attendance/performance records
Scanning a student's QR code ID card, on-device, to record attendance
Playing an audio announcement of the student's name on-screen at clock-in/clock-out — generated and played entirely on-device, using data already stored in the App
Branding printed materials with the school's logo, colors, and signature
Letting staff transfer records directly to another authorized device via Device Sync, at their own initiation

We do not use this information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App's core functionality, because we never receive it in the first place.

4. How Information Is Shared

USM PRO does not have a server, and Educons Enterprise does not receive, store, or have access to the data described above. Data only ever leaves a device through one path:

Device Sync: a staff member actively initiates a transfer between two of the school's own devices, over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct, or a local network. The transfer goes directly device-to-device — it does not pass through us or any server, and we never see or receive it.

We do not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose personal information to third parties, because we do not collect or hold it centrally.

5. Data Storage & Security

All data described in Section 2 is stored in a local database and local app storage on the device itself. It remains on that device until a user deletes it, clears app data, or uninstalls the App. Because we do not operate a server for this data, we cannot access, recover, or delete it on a user's behalf — deletion happens on the device.

Since data lives entirely on-device, its security depends significantly on the device's own security. We recommend schools:

Use a device passcode/biometric lock on any phone or tablet running USM PRO;
Set the in-App manager's code and keep it confidential;
Only sync data between devices the school itself controls.

6. Children's Data

USM PRO is a professional tool intended for use by school staff and administrators — it is not intended to be used directly by children, and children are not the App's end users. However, because schools use it to manage student records, some data about children (names, photos, academic records) is entered and stored by staff on the school's behalf.

Schools using USM PRO are responsible for having a lawful basis — such as parental or guardian consent, or another basis recognized under applicable law — for storing student data in the App, and for complying with the data protection law that applies to them, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 for schools operating in Nigeria, and equivalent laws such as GDPR or COPPA where applicable elsewhere. Schools also decide who at the school holds the App's access PIN and which devices are authorized to hold student data.

Because all data stays on the school's own devices and is never transmitted to us, we do not have the ability to access, review, or independently manage the deletion of children's data — that control sits entirely with the school.

7. Your Choices

You can review, edit, or delete any student or school record directly within the App.
Uninstalling the App permanently removes its locally stored data from that device, including the photo storage folder — this cannot be recovered by us, because we never had a copy.
Schools should keep their own backups (via Device Sync to another authorized device) if they want to preserve records beyond a single device's lifecycle.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App's features change. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
